NEW YORK (Reuters) - New York Jets wide receiver Braylon Edwards was arrested early Tuesday on drunken driving charges, a police spokeswoman said.
Edwards, 27, was arrested in Manhattan at 5:15 a.m. after police noticed excessive window tinting on his car, the New York Police Department spokeswoman said.
After smelling alcohol, police officers arrested the six-year NFL veteran.
"We are very disappointed in Braylon's actions this morning," Jets general manager Mike Tannenbaum said in a statement.
"We are reviewing the information with the league and will impose the appropriate disciplinary measures."
Edwards, a Pro Bowler in 2007, joined the Jets in a trade with the Cleveland Browns last year. He has six catches and one touchdown for the Jets this season.
