A big-play wide receiver who made the game-winning catch in the Pittsburgh Steelers' 2009 Super Bowl victory, Holmes was acquired by the Jets in an off-season trade and is finally ready to take the field.
"To add a player like Santonio to what we already have -- our offense has been rolling, it's good," Jets coach Rex Ryan told the team's website (newyorkjets.com). "It should be a lot of fun to watch."
Holmes played the first four years of his career with the Steelers where he showed promise but also ran into problems off the field.
He caught a career-high 79 passes for 1,248 yards last season and will provide another target for young quarterback Mark Sanchez who has the Jets off to a 3-1 start.
