Toronto Blue Jays pitcher Darren Oliver has been placed on the 15-day disabled list because of a left shoulder strain.

The move is retroactive to May 19.

Oliver has appeared in 17 games this season, posting a record of 2-1 with a 3.18 ERA. The veteran lefty has a 2.32 ERA in 79 games since joining Toronto in 2012.

The Blue Jays selected the contract of pitcher Sean Nolin from Double-A New Hampshire. The 23-year-old lefty is set to make his major league debut on Friday in a start against Baltimore. He was 2-0 with a 1.17 ERA in three starts at New Hampshire.

Toronto opened a spot on the 40-man roster for Nolin by transferring pitcher J.A. Happ to the 60-day disabled list. Happ is still recovering after being hit in the head by a line drive in a May 7 game against Tampa Bay.
