Jacksonville State QB Ivory has season-ending surgery
Jacksonville, AL – Jacksonville State senior quarterback ending surgery on Friday to repair the fractured right fibula that he suffered during a win over UT Martin Thursday night.
Ivory will likely receive a medical redshirt for this season and return to action next year.
Ivory, from Warner Robins, Ga., was injured in the first half of Thursday's season-opening Ohio Valley Conference game - a 24-23 Gamecocks' victory at Burgess-Snow Field.
Sophomore Coty Blanchard, the 2010 OVC Freshman of the Year, will take over as Jacksonville State's starting quarterback. He was 9-for-17 for a career-high 133 yards and one touchdown pass and rushed for 32 yards in relief of Ivory on Thursday.
Jacksonville State, the preseason favorite in the OVC, is ranked ninth in The Sports Network/Fathead.com FCS Top 25.
