Glendale, AZ (SportsNetwork.com) - The New York Islanders activated goaltender Evgeni Nabokov from injured reserve Thursday, prior to the club's game against the Phoenix Coyotes.
Nabokov had been sidelined for almost a month due to a groin injury suffered in a Nov. 16 game against the Detroit Red Wings.
Prior to the setback, the 38-year-old veteran was 5-5-3 with a 3.30 goals- against average and an .892 save percentage in 14 games this season.
To make room on the roster, the Isles sent netminder Anders Nilsson to Bridgeport of the American Hockey League. Since being called up from the minors, the 23-year-old went 0-2-2 with a 3.63 GAA in five appearances.
