Cleveland Cavaliers guard Kyrie Irving and Sacramento Kings guard Isaiah Thomas were named the top rookies in the Eastern and Western Conference, respectively, for games played in February.
Irving led all rookies by averaging 19.3 points per game and paced all Eastern Conference rookies in assists (5.6 apg) and three-point shooting percentage (.444). He also led all NBA freshman in free throw percentage (.953).
Irving netted 20 or more points six times during the month and notched a season-high 11 assists against the New Orleans Hornets on February 22.
Thomas topped all Western Conference rookies in scoring (12.2 ppg) and was second in assists (4.4 apg). He recorded a career-high 24 points against the Miami Heat on February 21.
Other nominees for the rookie award were Charlotte's Kemba Walker, Denver's Kenneth Faried, Detroit's Brandon Knight, Houston's Chandler Parsons, Minnesota's Ricky Rubio and New Jersey's MarShon Brooks.
