Inter leaves it late against Siena
Siena, Italy – It took 90 minutes, but Inter Milan finally 0 win over Siena in Serie A action on Sunday.
Luc Castaignos provided the telling goal in stoppage time to help Inter claim its second consecutive win in league play.
The Nerazzurri started the campaign in disappointing fashion, but since Claudio Ranieri was appointed manager, Inter has slowly started to climb the Serie A table. The win sees Inter go level in the table with Siena, tied on 14 points, although Inter has a game in hand.
Siena has lost two of its last three Serie A contests, but will have a good opportunity to pick up points in its next outing when it faces fourth-from- bottom Bologna on Dec. 4.
Inter returns to the San Siro where it will host Udinese in a massive fixture on Dec. 3.
Cesena 2, Genoa 0
Cesena, Italy - Adrian Mutu bagged a brace to help Cesena to a 2-0 victory over Genoa in Serie A action on Sunday.
The Romanian striker converted a penalty kick in the 70th minute and added another ten minutes later to secure three points for the home side.
Cesena has won two straight matches, its only two wins in the Serie A season thus far. It sits second from bottom with nine points on the year.
Genoa is tied on points with Chievo and Parma, deadlocked on 15 points apiece, but Genoa occupies ninth place on goal differential.
Palermo 2, Fiorentina 0
Palermo, Italy - Palermo continued its run of good form in Serie A with a 2-0 win over Fiorentina on Sunday.
Fabrizio Miccoli opened the scoring in the 22nd minute before Josip Ilicic provided the insurance goal in the 73rd minute, handing Palermo its third win in its last five Serie A contests.
The win gives Palermo 19 points through 12 games this season, good enough for fifth place in the table.
Fiorentina is winless in its last three league matches, falling to 16th place with 13 points.
Cagliari 1, Bologna 1
Cagliari, Italy - Cagliari and Bologna played to a 1-1 draw at the Stadio Sant'Elia on Sunday with both goals coming just six minutes apart in the second half.
Marco Di Vaio had put Bologna in front with his strike in the 75th minute, but Daniele Conti equalized in the 81st minute from the penalty spot to split the points at home.
Cagliari, winless in its last seven Serie A matches, has struggled this season and remains in the bottom half of the table with just 14 points from 12 games. Bologna, fourth from bottom, has fared even worse with just 11 points.
AC Milan 4, Chievo 0
Milan, Italy - AC Milan continues to roll in Serie A, picking up three points in resounding fashion after a 4-0 win over Chievo at the San Siro on Sunday.
All four goals came in the first half for Milan, which is unbeaten in its last six Serie A contests. The Rossoneri now sits second with 24 points, eclipsing Udinese on goal differential.
Thiago Silva kicked things off with a goal in the eighth minute before Zlatan Ibrahimovic doubled the advantage in the 16th minute.
Alexandre Pato extended the lead in the 33rd minute with his first goal of the season, and Ibrahimovic wrapped up the affair in the 44th minute, converting his chance from the penalty spot.
