Twymond Howard and Deville Smith each scored 16 points as Tennessee-Martin built a first-half lead and cruised to a 77-67 win over Longwood Saturday.
Myles Taylor scored all eight of his points in the first half, sparking a late run by the Skyhawks that resulted in a 13-point lead at intermission, 35-22.
Marshun Newell and Javier Martinez each contributed 10 points for UT-Martin (5-2). The Skyhawks shot a crisp 57.1 percent from the floor (24 of 42) and were 5 of 12 from three-point range. UT-Martin was 24 of 29 from the free throw line (82.8 percent).
Quincy Taylor finished with 26 points on 9-of-18 shooting from the floor, and 4 of 8 from long range, to lead Longwood (3-6). Lotanna Nwogbo and Shaquille Johnson each added 11 points.
Taylor drilled a 3 to cut the lead to nine, 72-63 in the final minute.
