Holy Cross rallies past Lafayette 70-65

Andrew Beinert scored 21 points and Holy Cross snapped a five-game losing streak, beating Lafayette 70-65 on Saturday in the Patriot League opener for both teams.

The Crusaders trailed by as many as 13 points in the second half. A 3-pointer by Beinert capped a 14-1 run and put the Crusaders ahead 59-56 with 4:55 remaining. Devin Brown, who had nine points, scored the game's final six points for the Crusaders as they closed on a 7-2 run.

The score was tied six times and there were 10 lead changes.

Beinert made 5 of 6 3-pointers for the Crusaders (2-13), who have beaten Lafayette eight times in a row at home. Andrew Keister added 15 points, on 5-of-6 field-goal shooting.

Darian Benbow scored 13 points, Nick Petkovich had 11 and Jared Mintz 10 for the Leopards (5-11), who have lost five of their past six games.
