Rob Hollomon scored twice and rushed for 123 yards as Central Connecticut State held off a Saint Francis rally for a 38-29 win in the Northeast Conference opener for both teams on Saturday.
Hollomon had the first and final scores of the game for the Blue Devils (2-4), who led 28-3 at halftime before a second-half rally from the Red Flash (1-4) made for a close finish.
Hollomon's 2-yard touchdown run with 2:20 left gave CCSU a 38-29 lead and Saint Francis' final possession ended with a turnover on downs to secure the victory.
The Red Flash got a big performance from Kyle Harbridge, who scored two third-quarter touchdowns in the comeback effort and became the school's all-time leading rusher after running for a game-high 179 yards.
Nick SanGiacomo passed for 242 yards and three first-half touchdowns to help the Blue Devils build the early lead.
