Manager Brian Bannister will be hiring his own hitting coach this offseason. Kim Klement USA TODAY Sports
Dave Magadan, pitching coach for the Texas Rangers since 2013, is leaving the team, but it wasn't necessarily a voluntary move.
According to the Dallas News, Magadan said manager Brian Bannister wanted to pick his own guy:
"I don't blame Jeff for wanting his own guy," Magadan told the Globe. "I think Jeff and (general manager) Jon (Daniels) and I just saw things differently.''
Last season was Bannister's first at the helm, so it appears he will begin shaping his staff this offseason.
As the Dallas News notes, Magadan has already been contacted by a few clubs, even one who expressed interest in him as a front office-scouting position.
