Jerome Hill scored 32 points on 13-of-18 shooting, Tyrell Nelson added 12 points, and Gardner-Webb beat Division II Brevard 78-63 on Saturday in their home opener.

Adonis Burbage scored 10 points for the Bulldogs (3-3 Big South), Tyler Strange had 12 assists, and Gardner-Webb outshot Brevard (0-6) 54.4 percent to 41.4 percent.

Trevon Shaw led the Tornados with 19 points and Darius Moose added 17.

Brevard's Phil Wallace opened with a 3-pointer, but it was all Bulldogs after that. Hill scored five straight points in an 11-2 run the Bulldogs used to lead 21-11, then Harold McBride and Burbage each hit treys and Gardner-Webb led 42-31 at halftime.

Brevard pulled to within eight points, 34-42, on a free throw in the second half by Shaw, but the Bulldogs pulled away on a 10-2 run in which Hill scored back-to-back buckets.
