Hicks scores 25 and Cal State Northridge hangs on to beat San Diego 74-71

SAN DIEGO – Stephan Hicks scored 25 points and Cal State Northridge beat San Diego 74-71 on Thursday night in the NUCDF Basketball Challenge at the Jenny Craig Pavilion in San Diego.

Hicks was 9 of 10 from the field. Tre Hale-Edmerson had 11 points and 11 rebounds. Stephen Maxwell had 14 points and Josh Greene added 11 for the Matadors (3-0).

The Matadors led 36-34 at halftime.

Johnny Dee had 16 points, including three 3-pointers, for San Diego (2-1). Chris Anderson had 15 points, eight assists and six rebounds. John Sinis and Jito Kok had 10 each for the Toreros.
