Hannover jumped out to a first-half lead through Mohammed Abdellaoue, who took advantage of a giveaway in the Kaiserslautern defense to put his team in front after 13 minutes.
But the home side answered in the second half as Olcay Sahan's cross was finished off by Adam Nemec from inside the penalty area to claim a point for his side.
Kaiserslautern finished the match with 10 men as Itay Shechter received a straight red card for a poor challenge on Manuel Schmiedebach.
Hannover has now drawn five of its last six games with Kaiserslautern earning five draws in its last seven matches.
