Ismael Gomez and Yendrick Ruiz scored first-half goals, and Herediano added four more in the second half to rout Valencia 6-1 on Thursday night in the CONCACAF Champions League.
Victor Nunez Rodriguez and Jose Sanchez scored, and Anllel Porras added a goal in the 80th minute — 4 minutes after entering as a substitute. The Costa Rican squad added a final tally on an own goal in taking the early lead in Group 3.
