Atlanta, GA (SportsNetwork.com) - The Atlanta Hawks have waived forward James Johnson, the team announced on Monday.

Johnson, a five-year NBA veteran and a former first-round pick of the Chicago Bulls, had signed with the Hawks last month after spending the 2012-13 campaign with the Sacramento Kings. He averaged 5.1 points and 2.7 rebounds over 54 games last season.

Over 219 career games with three different teams (Chicago, Toronto, Sacramento), Johnson has averaged 6.3 points, 3.2 rebounds and 1.4 assists.
