TEMPE, Ariz. (AP) — David Freitas and Greg Garcia drove in four runs apiece to lead Hawaii to a 12-9 victory over San Diego that eliminated the Toreros from the Tempe Regional on Sunday.
Hawaii (35-27) must now beat No. 1 national seed Arizona State (49-8) twice to advance to the super regionals.
Freitas went 3 for 4 with a three-run homer, while Garcia was 3 for 5 and doubled twice. Kolten Wong and Matt Roquemore had three singles apiece, and Kevin Macdonald hit a solo homer.
Mike Ferraro went 2 for 4, finishing the regional 8 for 14 with nine RBIs, for San Diego (37-22).
Hawaii's Zach Gallagher gave up one earned run in 5 1-3 innings and retired eight in a row during one stretch, but the win went to Blair Walters in relief.
