Vienna, Austria (SportsNetwork.com) - Tommy Haas will play Robin Haase in the final of the Erste Bank Open after both won semifinal matches Saturday.
The second-seeded Haas rallied for a 3-6, 6-4, 7-6 (7-0) victory over Lukas Rosol in the first semifinal and the unseeded Haase pulled off a stunner with a 7-5, 7-6 (7-4) upset of top-seeded Jo-Wilfried Tsonga.
Haas will try for his second title in Vienna, previously winning the crown back in 2001. He also reached the final in 2000 and still has an outside chance to reach the season-ending ATP World Tour Finals.
The 35-year-old German is 14-12 lifetime in title matches, including 1-1 this year. He won in Munich back in April after losing in the San Jose final in February.
Haas' match on Saturday ended when Rosol was given a point penalty for smashing his racket after being previously warned by the referee.
Tsonga is also in contention for one of the last four remaining berths in the season-ending tournament, but his hopes took a slight hit Saturday. It was the Frenchman's second straight semifinal loss after a setback to Novak Djokovic last Saturday in Shanghai.
Haase, meanwhile, will play in his fourth career final and second this year. He lost to Mikhail Youzhny three months ago in Gstaad. His other two finals were also contested in Austria, as he won his first two titles at the Kitzbuhel event in both 2011 and 2012.
The Dutchman has knocked off three seeded players this week, toppling No. 7 Vasek Pospisil in the second round and No. 3 Fabio Fognini in the quarterfinals before Saturday's shocker.
Sunday's meeting will be the first between Haas and Haase. The winner will claim a first prize of $122,000.
