Guadalajara draws Pachuca to finish first

Guadalajara conceded a late goal to 2 draw on Saturday.

Enrique Esqueda scored in the 90th minute to salvage a point for Pachuca and complete his brace after converting a penalty kick in the 55th minute.

Jorge Mora had opened the scoring for Guadalajara with a goal in the 22nd minute, his eighth of the season.

Erick Torres Padilla put Guadalajara back in front in the 66th minute after Esqueda had equalized for Pachuca, but the lead only lasted until the dying minutes when Esqueda struck again.

Guadalajara concludes the regular season with 30 points, one point in front of Cruz Azul which topped America 3-1 on Sunday behind a two-goal performance from Emanuel Villa.

With the draw, Pachuca qualifies for the playoffs and will face Tigres in a home-and-away series. Tigres topped Puebla 1-0 on Sunday to finish the regular season in third place.

Heading into the postseason, Guadalajara will face eighth-place Queretaro, which claimed the final playoff spot with a 3-0 win over U.A.G. on Saturday.

In Saturday's other matches, Monterrey edged Atlante 3-2 thanks to two goals from Cesar Delgado, and San Luis trounced Toluca in a comfortable 5-1 win. Santos also earned a 3-0 win over Atlas to finish fourth.

U.N.A.M. played to a 1-1 draw with Tijuana on Sunday to finish the regular season one spot out of a playoff spot, while Morelia edged Jaguares 1-0 on Friday to see both sides clinch a postseason berth.

Morelia is set to face Cruz Azul in the opening round of the playoffs while Santos will open against Jaguares in a home-and-away series.
