Daytona Beach, FL (SportsNetwork.com) - Jaye Marie Green carded her fifth straight round in the 60s on Sunday en route to a dominating 10-stroke win at the LPGA Final Qualifying Tournament.
Green finished the 5-round marathon with a 4-under 68, which gave her a total of 29-under-par 331. Her total of 331 smashed the previous record of 342, which Stacy Lewis set in 2008.
"This is going to be a week that I'll always remember. I was the most nervous on that last green when I didn't have to be, but I really was," Green admitted. "But when that putt fell, I was just speechless and I think I was just seeing stars really. It was a cool feeling. I just felt really relieved."
Mi Rim Lee posted a 3-under 69 to take second place at minus-19 on the Rees Jones Course at LPGA International.
Tiffany Joh managed a 1-under 71 to take third at 15-under 345, while Amy Anderson was one shot back at minus-14 after closing with a 3-under 69.
Green, 19, stumbled to a bogey on the third, but bounced back with birdies on five and six. Around the turn, she followed a birdie on the 10th with another on No. 11.
After stumbling to a bogey on the 14th, Green closed in style as she birdied the final two holes.
Jennifer Kirby (68) grabbed fifth at 12-under-par 348, while four-time winner Seon Hwa Lee (71) was one back at minus-11. Megan Grehan (71) and Kathleen Ekey (72) shared seventh at minus-10.
Maria Hernandez (71), Xiyu Lin (70), Line Vedel (71) and Erica Popson (73) tied for ninth at 8-under 352.
Silvia Cavalleri, the 2007 Corona Championship winner, posted a 70 and was joined in 13th at minus-7 by Lisa Ferrero (69), amateur Kelly Tan (68), Paz Echeverria (70), Victoria Elizabeth (67) and Paula Reto (70).
Ashleigh Simon (74), Jenny Suh (71), Haru Nomura (69) and Megan McChrystal (70) ended in a tie for 19th at 6-under 354. They played off for the final two exempt status cards.
In the 3-hole playoff, Simon played them in minus-2 to earn her card. The other three all ended at even-par and went into sudden death, where Nomura gained the final spot.
NOTES: Green earned $5,000 for the win ... Reilley Rankin and Sophia Sheridan were the only two that started the day inside the top 20, but failed to end there. Rankin shot even-par 72 to end tied for 23rd at minus-4, while Sheridan stumbled to a 6-over 78 and finished in a share of 54th at 2-over 362 .. The players that ended between minus-4 and even-par also have LPGA Tour status next year through priority list category 17.
