Olga Govortsova and Ayumi Morita were among Tuesday's first-round winners at the Taipei WTA Ladies Open.

The second-seeded Belarusian Govortsova topped Chinese Zheng Saisai 7-6 (3-7), 6-1, while the third-seeded Japanese Morita mauled Taipei's Hua-Chen Lee 6-2, 6-1 on Day 2.

In other action involving seeds, No. 4 Kristina Mladenovic of France held off Israeli Julia Glushko 6-2, 4-6, 6-3, No. 5 Kai-Chen Chang of Taipei outlasted Thai Luksika Kumkhum 7-6 (7-5), 5-7, 6-2, and No. 7 Japanese Misaki Doi handled Chinese Qiang Wang 6-4, 7-5.

Also advancing were Taipei's Wen-Hsin Hsu, Poland's Paula Kania and Thailand's Nudnida Luangnam and Varatchaya Wongteanchai.

On Wednesday, top seed Peng Shuai of China will face Kazakhstan's Zarina Diyas in an opening-round affair.

This week's champion will earn $20,000.
