Seattle, WA (SportsNetwork.com) - Gary Bell Jr. scored 20 points and Sam Dower Jr. contributed 12 points and 11 rebounds, as 20th-ranked Gonzaga overcame a great effort from Augustine Rubit and beat South Alabama, 68-59, at KeyArena.
Kevin Pangos added 10 points for the Bulldogs (10-1), who have won five in a row since a loss to Dayton on Nov. 25.
Rubit had 35 points on 11-of-16 shooting from the field and a perfect 10-of-10 from the foul line, but the Jaguars (5-5) suffered their second straight loss.
Gonzaga scored 16 of the game's first 18 points with Bell accounting for nine of them. A layup from Kyle Dranginis widened the gap to 22-3 at the midway point of the half.
The Jaguars closed within single digits later in the half, but Gonzaga built the lead to 41-25 at the break.
South Alabama couldn't get closer than eight points in the second half.

South Alabama shot 32.2 percent ... Gonzaga was 2-of-14 from 3-point range ... This was part as what's been billed the "Battle in Seattle", during which Gonzaga has posted a 7-4 record ... Gonzaga is 7-1 all-time against current teams from the Sun Belt Conference, including 3-0 against the Jaguars.
