(Reuters) - The New York Giants suffered another injury setback as receiver and return specialist Domenik Hixon was ruled out for the National Football League season with a torn ligament in his right knee, the team said on Wednesday.
Hixon was injured while making a spectacular juggling catch for a touchdown during New York's victory over the St. Louis Rams on Monday and will require surgery in the near future, the team said in a statement.
He tore the same ligament during a mini-camp practice last year and missed the entire 2010 season.
New York's receiving corps may be further depleted as starter Mario Manningham is being evaluated after suffering a concussion during Monday's game.
Hixon played in the Giants first two games, catching four passes for 50 yards and one touchdown, and returning three punts for 31 yards.
