Atlanta, GA – The San Francisco Giants placed right fielder day disabled list Tuesday with a strained right hand.
The move, which is retroactive to August 8, comes after Beltran missed his seventh straight game Monday because of the injury, suffered while swinging the bat against Philadelphia's Roy Oswalt.
San Francisco acquired Beltran from the New York Mets prior to the non-waiver trade deadline. He is hitting .244 with two RBI in 11 games with the Giants after batting .289 with 15 home runs and 66 RBI for the Mets.
The Giants also placed reliever Sergio Romo on the 15-day DL with inflammation in his right elbow. That move is retroactive to August 10.
The right-hander has made 53 appearances this season, going 3-1 with a 1.67 earned run average.
To fill the roster spots, the Giants reinstated infielder Miguel Tejada from the 15-day DL and recalled pitcher Dan Runzler from Triple-A Fresno.
Tejada, who missed 25 games with a lower abdominal strain, was batting .242 and drove in 26 runs before the injury.
Runzler, a left-hander who made the Giants' Opening Day roster, compiled a 1-2 record with a 6.41 ERA in 18 games before being optioned to Fresno in late May.
