Giants DE Tuck may sit due to sore neck

New York Giants defensive end Justin Tuck did not practice Thursday because of his lingering neck injury, leaving his status in doubt for Sunday's season opener in Washington.

"We have a plan and if Tuck plays, that is a bonus but we are ready to go," defensive coordinator Perry Fewell said. "We are going down to win a football game on Sunday and we are not crying. We are locked and loaded and this is a good challenge for us. We will be ready to play football."

Tuck, who was hurt in a preseason game against the Jets on August 29, was limited in practice on Wednesday but didn't practice a day later. He's coming off a season in which he compiled 12 sacks.
