Gallo's goal sinks Porto

Lisbon, Portugal (SportsNetwork.com) - A first-half goal from Bruno Gallo as the difference as Maritimo knocked off second-place FC Porto, 1-0, to keep the club six points back of leaders Benfica.

Gallo struck just after the half-hour mark for Maritimo, while Porto was unable to breach the home side's defense despite playing the final 13 minutes up a man following Raul's second yellow card for Maritimo.

The defeat is Porto's second of the season, and it leaves the team only one point clear of third-place Sporting Lisbon, which notched a 1-0 win against Academica thanks to Joao Mario's 76th-minute goal, handing Sporting a fifth successive victory.

Benfica failed to take advantage of Porto's defeat as the leaders lost 1-0 at Pacos Ferreira on Monday thanks to a penalty kick in stoppage time from Sergio Oliveira.

Guimaraes opened the weekend on Friday by coming from two goals down in the final 11 minutes to claim a 2-2 draw thanks to a successful penalty kick from Andre Andre in stoppage time.

Michael Uchebo's goal eight minutes from time lifted Boavista to a 1-0 win over Braga, Estoril edged Arouca, 1-0, behind Leo Bonatini's 49th-minute goal, Setubal scored three times in the final 25 minutes for a 4-1 victory over Rio Ave, Nacional used goals from Mario Rondon and Lucas Joao in the last eight minutes to leave Moreirense with a 3-2 win and Belenenses played out a 0-0 draw with Penafiel.
