For Smith, present and past meet as Buccaneers visit Bears this week

His present and past about to collide, Lovie Smith insisted he will simply be just another coach trying to win at Soldier Field.

That did not stop him from looking back on Wednesday.

Some reflection was inevitable with Smith and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers visiting the Chicago Bears, his former team, this week.

He calls coaching in Chicago "a dream come true." He says he was "proud of everything we were able to do."

Only George Halas and Mike Ditka lasted longer in Chicago and produced more wins than Smith, who led the Bears to an 81-63 record from 2004 to 2012. His nine-year run included three playoff appearances and a trip to the Super Bowl.
