Umberger, who will miss the remainder of the season, endured procedures which repaired damage to his right hip and bilateral abdominal areas.
The 32-year-old veteran totaled just nine goals and six assists for 15 points over the first year of his second stint with the club.
An Ohio State product, Umberger has compiled 178 goals and 203 assists for 381 points in 740 regular-season games over 10 seasons for Philadelphia and Columbus.
