Philadelphia, PA – The Philadelphia Flyers announced defenseman Andreas Lilja had left hip surgery and won't be back in action until late October or early November.
The team disclosed that Lilja, who signed with the team as a free agent on July 1, 2011, had the procedure done in mid-July. A report over the weekend from a Swedish publication initially indicated that the 37-year-old was slated to miss four months.
He appeared in 46 games last season and had six assists. Over 576 games with the Kings, Panthers, Red Wings, Ducks, and Flyers, Lilja has 16 goals and 71 assists.
