New York, NY (SportsNetwork.com) - FC Dallas forward Blas Perez was named the Player of the Week on Monday for Week 27 of the 2014 Major League Soccer season.

Perez netted a pair of goals on Saturday to lift his club to an important 2-1 victory over Vancouver Whitecaps FC at Toyota Stadium.

Perez scored the game's opening goal in the 20th minute with a wonder strike from an impossible angle, and his second tally put Dallas ahead for good in the 78th minute.

Following a free kick into the box, the ball took a deflection off of FC Dallas forward Tesho Akindele's head and fell to the feet of Perez who first- timed a shot into the back of the net.

The MLS Player of the Week is selected each week of the regular season by a panel of journalists from the North America Soccer Reporters (NASR). The group consists of members of print, television, radio and online media.
