FCD, Galaxy share the spoils in six-goal thriller
Frisco, TX – Blas Perez's second goal of the night four minutes from time saved a point for FC Dallas on Sunday in a wild 3-3 draw with the Los Angeles Galaxy at FC Dallas Stadium.
Matt Hedges struck first for FC Dallas, while Perez accounted for the other two goals, but the result still leaves the home side searching for a way to snap their nine-match winless run.
Landon Donovan accounted for all three Los Angeles tallies, but the Galaxy remain winless in three of their last four matches.
The hosts struck first 15 minutes into the match when David Ferreira whipped a corner kick into the Los Angeles penalty area which caught Galaxy goalkeeper Carlo Cudicini off his line and Hedges was able to nod it home to snap FCD's five-match goalless drought.
But the two-time defending champs drew level on the stroke of halftime when Robbie Keane played a fantastic ball over the top for Donovan, who took a touch and smashed it into the net.
After the break, FC Dallas grabbed the lead in the 48th minute when second-half substitute Michel hit a left-footed free kick into the box and Perez got on the end of it to knock it past Cudicini.
Donovan's second tally of the match materialized in the 73rd minute when Hector Jimenez chested down an errant clearance by FC Dallas and he jumped on a loose ball in the box and easily fired it into the bottom right corner.
Donovan completed his hat trick eight minutes from time when defender Todd Dunivant launched a long throw-in into the box and the ball fell kindly to his feet for the easy goal and a 3-2 lead.
But it was the home side that got the last laugh four minutes later when a free kick from Michel was cleared off the line, but Perez was there to hammer it home on the volley for his second goal of the night.
The result sees the Galaxy (10-9-4) move into fifth place in the Western Conference on 34 points, while FC Dallas (8-6-9) stays in seventh place in the West with 33 points.
