New York, NY (SportsNetwork.com) - NFL fans will need to awake early to catch the entire Week 8 schedule for the 2014 season, with the league announcing that the Atlanta Falcons-Detroit Lions matchup at London's Wembley Stadium will kick off at 9:30 a.m. (et) on Oct. 26.
The start time, which will be the earliest in NFL history, is designed to showcase the International Series clash and allow for increased exposure to a worldwide audience.
Next season will also mark the first time the NFL will hold three regular- season games in London. In addition to the Atlanta-Detroit contest, the Miami Dolphins will take on the Oakland Raiders on Sept. 28 and the Dallas Cowboys and Jacksonville Jaguars will square off on Nov. 9.
The other two London games will begin at the customary 1 p.m. (et) start time.
"We are excited about playing three regular-season games in the UK for the first time and debuting a new game time that we expect to be a hit with fans on both sides of the Atlantic and around the world," said NFL chief marketing officer Mark Waller.
The NFL held two games at Wembley Stadium for the first time this season. The Minnesota Vikings claimed a 34-27 win over the Pittsburgh Steelers before 83,518 fans at Wembley on Sept. 29, while the San Francisco 49ers rolled to a 42-10 victory over the Jaguars on Oct. 27.
