Ex-Seton Hall guard Gibbs transfers to UConn

Storrs, CT (SportsNetwork.com) - Sterling Gibbs, the leading scorer for Seton Hall last season, announced he will transfer to the University of Connecticut.

The 6-foot-1 guard comes to the Huskies as a graduate transfer.

"3rd times a charm.. UCONN!," Gibbs said on Twitter, referring to the fact he will play for his third collegiate team.

Gibbs also visited Ohio State and Pittsburgh, but he figures to be a starter for the Huskies next season. UConn needs to replace graduating senior Ryan Boatright, who was the team's leading scorer last season.

Gibbs averaged 16.3 points a game and led the Pirates with 110 assists over 29 contests. He also averaged 2.1 rebounds while shooting 43.6 percent from 3- point range and was selected as a second team All-Big East member.

He began his career playing at the University of Texas in 2011-12. Gibbs sat out per NCAA transfer regulations the following academic year, then averaged 13.2 points during the 2013-14 season for Seton Hall.
