Budapest, Hungary – Top seed Sara Errani led the charge into the semifinals at the $220,000 Budapest Grand Prix tennis event, a clay- court French Open tune-up.
Errani, who titled in Barcelona three weeks ago, blew past fellow Italian Alberta Brianti 6-4, 6-0 in 1 hour, 24 minutes at Romai Tennis Academy.
Up next for the two-time 2012 WTA titlist Errani will be Georgian Anna Tatishvili, who came from behind to dismiss Canadian Aleksandra Wozniak 5-7, 7-6 (7-4), 6-4 on Day 4.
Friday's other semifinal will pit fifth-seeded Marina Erakovic of New Zealand against Russian Elena Vesnina. Erakovic got past Czech Barbora Zahlavova Strycova 6-2, 1-6, 6-4, while Vesnina took out sixth-seeded Croat Petra Martic 6-3, 6-2.
The newest Budapest champion will collect $37,000.
