Eintracht joined Bayern Munich at the top of the Bundesliga table on Sunday after handing Hamburg a 3-2 defeat at the Commerzbank Arena.
The home side took a 2-0 lead inside of 20 minutes with goals from Takashi Inui and Olivier Occean.
But Hamburg responded just before the break from a corner kick as Artjoms Rudnevs knocked the ball down for Heiko Westermann to power home.
Hamburg also had a player sent off before halftime when Petr Jiracek received a red card for a poor challenge on Eintracht's Anderson.
The man advantage paid off seven minutes after the break when Stefan Aigner lifted a shot over the head of goalkeeper Rene Adler, while Hamburg did manage to cut the deficit back to a goal through Heung-Min Son, but couldn't do enough to avoid a third straight defeat.
Freiburg 5, Hoffenheim 3
Freiburg, Germany - Hoffenheim slumped to its third successive loss on Sunday after coming up short against Freiburg in a 5-3 defeat.
After taking the lead in first two minutes courtesy of a Matthieu Delpierre goal, Hoffenheim yielded two goals in a 10-minute span to fall behind 2-1 at halftime.
Boris Vukcevic leveled the match for Hoffenheim in the 57th, only for Fallou Diagne to restore Freiburg's one-goal lead with just over 20 minutes to play.
Once again Hoffenheim had a response as Takashi Usami leveled the contest at 3-3 in the 76th, but this time Freiburg pulled away over the final 10 minutes.
