NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- Vancouver defenseman Christian Ehrhoff's goal and two assists on Thursday in his team's 4-2 victory over Nashville in Game 4 of their Western Conference Semifinals series gives him nine points in 11 playoffs games this spring – tops among defensemen in the playoffs.
Ehrhoff scored the Canucks' first goal and then assisted on its next two, including Ryan Kesler's game-winning goal on the power play, before Henrik Sedin iced the game with an empty-net goal. Ehrhoff finished plus-1 in 20:37 of ice time.
The Canucks have a chance to close out the series Saturday night at home. Should the Canucks advance, Ehrhoff could end up facing San Jose, his former team, in the conference finals – the Sharks take a 3-0 series lead into Game 4 at Detroit on Friday.
After the win, Ehrhoff met with the media.
Q: How was the attitude after giving up that goal to start the third period that allowed Nashville to tie the game at 2-2?
A: Well, when they tied it, obviously, it wasn't a good feeling, but we came back and Kes scored an amazing goal for us on the power play at a great time and got momentum back and (we) defended really well at the end.
Q: You got some words from injured teammate Manny Malhotra before the game, didn't you?
A: Yeah, he said just get a nice wrister on net and (Alex Burrows) had a nice screen there on my goal and it went in.
Q: What was it that Malhotra said, "Snapper not slapper," right?
A: Yeah, at that point I didn't have enough time to slap it anyways, so it worked out fine.
Q: Why do you think Nashville defenseman Ryan Suter lost his composure in the third period (throwing Kesler to the ice by the shoulders and earning a penalty that led to Vancouver's go-ahead goal)?
A: They got a little frustrated. All the scrums, it was pretty much all initiated by them. And that's frustration and that's good if they get frustrated.
