Edwards, Barner doubtful for Panthers

Charlotte, NC (SportsNetwork.com) - Defensive tackle Dwan Edwards and running back Kenjon Barner were among three players listed as doubtful for the Carolina Panthers' upcoming game at Minnesota.

Edwards, a 14-game starter for the Panthers last season, remains sidelined with a hamstring injury that has kept him out for the team's last two contests.

Barner missed Carolina's first three games with a sprained foot before making his NFL debut in last Sunday's 22-6 loss at Arizona. The former Oregon standout aggravated the injury during practice this week, however.

Fullback Mike Tolbert will likely serve in Barner's place as the backup to leading rusher DeAngelo Williams in the event the rookie is again inactive.

Rookie safety Robert Lester, who has started the Panthers' two most recent outings in place of veteran Quintin Mikell, has also been declared doubtful for Sunday's test. Mikell, however, appears set to return from his two-game absence caused by a sprained ankle. The veteran practiced in full all week and is probable to play.

Nickel back D.J. Moore will sit out a third consecutive game as he continues to recover from a knee sprain.

Tight end Greg Olsen, who did not take part in Wednesday's practice due to a sore foot, is probable to face the Vikings.
