The Philadelphia Eagles announced on Friday that starting left tackle Jason Peters ruptured the Achilles tendon in his right leg.

The injury occurred while Peters was training on Tuesday in Texas.

Surgery to repair the tendon is scheduled for April 2.

Peters, a five-time Pro Bowl selection and four-time All-Pro choice, has started 42 games at left tackle for the Eagles over the past three seasons since coming over from the Bills in an April 2009 trade.

In addition, Philadelphia re-signed tackle King Dunlap to a one-year deal. He played in 12 games last season, including two starts.
