Dunfermline's return to the Scottish Premier League has gotten off to a good start with the club claiming eight points from its first four games.

And manager Jim McIntyre is hopeful his team can continue that good run of form on Saturday at home against Motherwell, which sits two points clear of his team and in second place in the league table.

Dunfermline will be looking to bounce back from a defeat to East Fife in the Scottish Communities League Cup on Tuesday, and McIntyre is happy that the match on Saturday gives his team a chance to respond quickly.

"We are just looking forward to having a game again quickly after Tuesday (night's cup defeat), it is out of our system; it is gone and we are looking forward," McIntyre told the club's official website. "We have been excellent in the league so far; it has been a great start and we want to continue that."

Motherwell has also started well with three wins from its first five games, but the club will be trying to respond after a 3-0 defeat to Rangers in the league last weekend.

Rangers crashed out of Europe in midweek at the hands of Maribor and will try to bounce back with a win over Aberdeen at Ibrox. The Dons have claimed one win from five games this season.

Celtic also was knocked out of the Europa League in the qualifying stage by Sion, and Neil Lennon's team will travel to St Mirren on Sunday.

With just one point from five games, Inverness sits on the bottom of the league table and hosts Kilmarnock, St Johnstone and Dundee United tangle at McDiarmid Park and Hearts hosts Hibernian with Hibs having lost three of its first four games.
