Duffy called up to start against Twins
Kansas City, MO – Pitcher Danny Duffy was recalled from the minors by the Kansas City Royals to start Wednesday's game against the Minnesota Twins.
The 24-year-old Duffy will make his season debut for the Royals after going 3-2 with a 4.14 ERA in 14 combined games (12 starts) between Double-A Northwest Arkansas and Triple-A Omaha.
Duffy, a left-hander selected by the Royals in the third round of the 2007 draft, went 2-2 with a 3.90 ERA in six starts last season. He reached the majors for the first time a year earlier and compiled a 4-8 mark with a 5.64 ERA over 20 starts.
Pitcher Will Smith was optioned to Omaha to make room on the roster for Duffy.
