Dortmund, Germany (SportsNetwork.com) - Robert Lewandowski's second-half hat trick propelled Borussia Dortmund to a 6-1 thumping of Stuttgart on Friday, moving the club two points clear at the top of the Bundesliga table.

Stuttgart snatched the lead 13 minutes into the contest when Karim Haggui nodded home a corner kick from Alexandru Maxim, only for Dortmund to answer six minutes later through Sokratis Papastathopoulos, who got forward to score on a header of his own.

Marco Reus fired Dortmund into the lead in the 22nd minute after he took a pass from Henrikh Mkhitaryan and shot across the face of goal and into the lower corner of the net.

Lewandowski took over in the second half and scored his hat trick in the span of 18 minutes, with Reus setting up the first goal before Mkhitaryan's through ball allowed the forward to score again two minutes later.

The Poland international completed his hat trick in the 72nd minute and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang capped the scoring with his seventh goal of the campaign in the 81st.

Bayern Munich has won five of its last six games and attempts to continue its strong start at Hoffenheim, which is coming off of a 4-1 triumph at Hannover last weekend.

Bayer Leverkusen is only one point back of Bayern and the club has collected 16 of a possible 18 points since its lone defeat of the campaign. Saturday's opponent, Braunschweig, sits on the bottom of the league with four points from 10 games.

Monchengladbach is fourth but is nine points back of the top three sides and the team will try to close that gap with a win at Hamburg, which is unbeaten in its last four matches.

Schalke and Hertha Berlin meet up at the Olympiastadion with both sides residing in the top half of the league, Freiburg and Nurnberg are the only two teams without a win in the Bundesliga and they will square off at EasyCredit- Stadion, Eintracht takes on Wolfsburg, Augsburg tangles with Mainz and Werder Bremen hosts Hannover with the visitors attempting to snap a four-match winless streak.
