New York, NY (SportsNetwork.com) - Outfielders Yasiel Puig of the Los Angeles Dodgers and A.J. Pollock of the Arizona Diamondbacks were named National League Co-Players of the Week for the period ending May 18.
Puig hit .348 (8-of-23) over six games last week while posting a league- leading 10 RBI. The 23-year-old also smacked three homers and tied for the league lead with 20 total bases.
Pollock led the NL in batting, posting a .500 (11-of-22) average. His 20 total bases tied Puig for the league lead. The Notre Dame product also tallied three multi-hit games.
Chicago's Starlin Castro, Washington's Ian Desmond, St. Louis' Yadier Molina, Miami's Giancarlo Stanton and Cincinnati's Johnny Cueto were also considered for the award.
