Spencer Dinwiddie scored 19 of his game-high 28 points in the second half leading Colorado to a 67-62 victory over in-state rival Colorado State Tuesday night.
Dinwiddie, 11 for 11 from the free throw line, sealed the game with two free throws with 14.3 seconds left for Colorado (8-1). Askia Booker added 12 points and Jaron Hopkins had 10 including two clutch 3-pointers in the final 4:29 for the Buffaloes, winners of eight straight.
J.J. Avila led Colorado State (6-3) with 16 points, but was 4-for-19 shooting. Avila missed a chance to tie the game at 63 with a missed free throw with 24 seconds left.
Daniel Bejarano had 15 points as Colorado State had its four-game winning streak snapped. The Rams hurt themselves with 18 turnovers and 3-of-14 shooting from beyond the arc.
