Kansas City, KS (SportsNetwork.com) - Austin Dillon will start on the pole for Saturday's Kansas Lottery 300 after setting a new track qualifying record in Nationwide Series competition at Kansas Speedway.
Dillon, who enters this race just four points behind leader Sam Hornish Jr., posted a lap at 184.420 mph for his seventh pole of the season and the 10th of his Nationwide career. The previous qualifying record at this 1.5-mile racetrack was 182.914 mph, set by Joey Logano in 2012. This will be the second time Dillon competes in a Nationwide race at Kansas. He started and finished second here one year ago.
Justin Allgaier qualified second, followed by Elliott Sadler, Paul Menard and Regan Smith.
Starting sixth through 10th will be: Brian Scott, Parker Kligerman, Trevor Bayne, Brad Sweet and Chris Buescher.
Hornish will start 15th, while Sprint Cup Series regulars Kyle Busch and Brad Keselowski will roll off from the 12th and 13th positions, respectively.
