Phoenix, AZ (SportsNetwork.com) - The Arizona Diamondbacks have agreed to terms with infielder Eric Chavez on a one-year contract.
The 36-year-old batted .281 with 14 doubles, nine home runs and 44 RBI in 80 games with Arizona in 2013. He led all Major League third basemen (min. 50 games) with a .993 fielding percentage, and batted .299 with runners in scoring position.
The 16-year veteran has hit .268 with 257 home runs, 315 doubles and 894 RBI in 1,571 career games with the Oakland Athletics (1998-2010), New York Yankees (2011-12) and Diamondbacks (2013). Chavez is a six-time Gold Glove winner at third base.
