Newark, NJ (SportsNetwork.com) - The New Jersey Devils announced that goaltender Cory Schneider will not accompany the club to Boston for Saturday night's game due to a lower-body injury.
New Jersey used its goalie roster exemption to recall Keith Kinkaid from Albany of the American Hockey League to serve as backup to Martin Brodeur.
Schneider, a Boston College product, was born and raised in a northern suburb of Boston.
"I don't know the answer to that. I think it's short-term, but I don't know," Devils head coach Peter DeBoer said after a morning practice session.
The 27-year-old is 1-3-2 with a 2.14 goals-against average and pitched a 4-0 shutout over the Rangers to give New Jersey its lone win of the season.
