New Jersey Devils center Patrik Elias will miss Tuesday's game against the New York Rangers because of an illness.

Elias, who became the franchise's all-time leading goal scorer on Saturday, missed practice Monday with a fever and did not take part in Tuesday's morning skate. He leads the team this season with 13 goals and 29 points.

Devils head coach Pete DeBoer said Travis Zajac, in his third game back after missing the first 30 games of the season with an Achilles tendon injury, is expected to center the team's second line.

Elias scored twice during Saturday's 5-3 win at Montreal and now has 348 career goals, surpassing John MacLean's old team mark of 347.

Defenseman Henrik Tallinder will also miss his third straight game because of back spasms.
