Del Potro's comeback spoiled by 1st-round loss to Rochus at Thailand Open

Juan Martin del Potro lost in his comeback after being sidelined for eight months because of a wrist injury, falling to Olivier Rochus 7-6 (7), 6-4 Tuesday at the Thailand Open.

The 2009 U.S. Open champion hasn't played since the Australian Open in January. He withdrew from several tournaments before having surgery on his right wrist in May.

Also, eighth-seeded Michael Berrer lost 6-4, 7-6 (4) to Guillermo Garcia-Lopez.
