LOS ANGELES (AP) — LSU, the defending College World Series champion, was eliminated from the NCAA tournament Sunday with a 4-3 loss to UC Irvine in the Los Angeles Regional.

Drew Hillman went 3 for 3 with a home run and two runs scored as the Anteaters (39-20) advanced to play in the regional championship against UCLA (45-13). UC Irvine must win twice to reach the super regionals. The teams split two previous games in the regular season.

Starter Evan Brock (6-4) got the win, allowing three runs in his six innings, as UC Irvine rebounded from an 11-inning loss to LSU on Friday.

Ben Alsup (5-1) gave up three runs on five hits in 4 1-3 innings for LSU (41-22). Blake Dean hit his 12th homer for the Tigers, who beat Texas last year in Omaha for their sixth national title.
