David Brown's layup with 1 second left capped an 8-0 run and lifted Western Michigan over San Diego 68-66 in the Wooden Legacy tournament on Sunday.
Brown drove the lane and almost lost control, but recovered and got the shot off. He also hit a jumper with 1:57 left that sparked the Western Michigan run and assisted Connar Tava's layup that tied it at 66-all with 21 seconds left.
Brown finished with 14 points, six rebounds and seven assists for Western Michigan (5-2). Tava led the Broncos with 23 points and Tucker Haymond added 10 points and eight rebounds.
Christopher Anderson made two free throws to put San Diego (4-3) up 66-60 with 2:08 left but missed two free throws with 7 seconds left with the game tied.
Johnny Dee led the Toreros with 17 points, Jito Kok had 15 points and five blocks, Duda Sanadze scored 12 and Anderson 10.
